Gantry Loading Of Liquid Naptha
A naphtha terminal was loading solvent into trucks using ageing gantry meters, and the cracks were showing. Customers flagged frequent complaints about short loading times, maintenance staff were stretched thin, and there was no permanent provider on site. When an audit was conducted, it confirmed that meter factors were drifting and that tank dips and meter totals weren't adding up.
- Upgraded each loading arm with a compact PD/oval gear meter skid, matched to naphtha viscosity and flow requirements
- Added an air eliminator and basket strainer to keep vapour and debris away from the meter
- Tied pulse output directly into the existing batch controller, the automation system stayed largely untouched
- Built-in periodic proving capability with a compact prover
- Closed the gap between tank stock and gantry totals; readings now fall within custody transfer limits
- Brought maintenance down to predictable, scheduled tasks, strainer cleaning and seal checks
